Helen’s greatest strength and greatest joy is inspiring others to have confidence and enjoyment in their own creativity. Beginning with traditional art education in the ’70s, a stamp store in Maryland for 17 years, and most recently an experimental art studio in Hillsboro, Oregon Helen has followed the pursuit of bringing Craft and Art together for everyone.

I guess you could say I’ve been “crafting” in one form or another since childhood when I preferred to dress my paper dolls with my own designs. For many years afterward, my main creative outlet was sewing. However, once I started making cards about fifteen years ago, I was immediately hooked. I was unable to teach many classes until I retired, of course, but have made up for it since, designing and offering half-a-dozen or so classes each month at Main St. Stamp & Stationery. Whether working with fabrics or papers, I find myself inspired by color and texture. I consider my design style to be traditional, but with today’s capabilities to die-cut and emboss, not to mention all the amazing embellishments available, the possibilities to expand and vary that style seem endless. I love adding those special details which make each card a miniature work of art. If you’re interested, samples of my previous class offerings may be seen in the upstairs classroom at Main St.

Hi, I’m Kim Calvi and here’s a little bit about myself. I’ve been a crafter for years, dabbling in many different media, but nothing kept my interest until I discovered paper crafting. It began with a desire to create my own Christmas cards after purchasing a rubber stamp I found at a thrift store. My first visit to Main Street Stamp and Stationery included a visit upstairs to their wonderful classroom and after beholding Anne’s glorious works of art and seeing examples of just how much was possible, I immediately signed up for one of her classes. I have literally been there ever since. I was asked to become a teacher myself in October of 2011. My specialty is presentation pieces and I’m known for my attention to detail. If you enjoy that sort of thing or think it might be something you’d like to explore, we’d love to have you. As much as I enjoy the creative process of card design, the greater blessings are the friendships and the opportunity to spend time with the ladies in class. We look forward to seeing you too!

I have been quilling for about 30 years and hold an accredited status in the English Quilling Guild as a representative to the Pacific Northwest. I have been teaching quilling for private lessons, small groups, and paper store classrooms. I have made my way south to Texas to teach a group of nuns and as far north as Victoria BC. I have had my work in juried shows, galleries, art walks, and studio tours. I have been published multiple times in CardMaker Magazine and a quilling book Creative Paper Quilling with many contributions to Guild publications. I work with paper in general, but my focus has been in quilling.

Hi! Back in the early 2000's we decided to bring Paper Crafts into our product mix. At that point I had never done ANY of the wonderful activities paper crafting involves. It has been a wonderful journey. Creating beautiful cards for our students to make has become a real joy. Along with observing the friendships that have developed between so many has been the best reward of all. We hope to see you soon!
