NEW! Paper Crafts for Kids in July and August
Let your child’s creative mind soar this summer at Main St. Stamp & Stationery. They will create masterpieces that are sure to become a treasured keepsake or gift that will knock Grandma’s socks off. The crafts will incorporate a variety of scrap booking paper, embellishments, stamps, glitter, ribbon and just about anything else you can imagine. The projects are a hit with boys and girls and can be even more enjoyable with a friend!

July Classes
Holiday Die-Cuts MAKE & TAKE
Monday, July 5, 1 – 2:30 PM, $8
If you like the look of the layered Holly Berry and Outlines images, but not the fussy-cutting required, you’ll enjoy the ease of die-cutting all those layers. Although perhaps not quite as intricate, layering four to six die-cuts of the same image can produce a lovely card with lots of depth and dimension. In keeping with our “Christmas in July” theme this month, the image will be a holiday one. If you can’t craft with us on a Monday afternoon, sign up for the repeat class offered on Saturday, July 31.
Polished Stone Three Ways
Wednesday, July 7, 12:30 – 3:30 PM, $30
This technique class was initially offered on June 24. We’ll experiment with different ways of achieving variations of the popular polished stone look for backgrounds. Time permitting, we’ll also use those backgrounds to complete two or three cards.
Up in the Air
Thursday, July 8, 12: 30 – 3 PM, $25
This is the repeat of the class from June 17 in which we fashioned cards featuring colorful hot air balloons in honor of the Tigard Balloon Festival. As the theme is gender-neutral, you may want to add these designs to your collection of cards for the guys. Materials include Italian screen print images, along with a stamped collage and an intricate die-cut balloon.

Saturday, July 10, 10 AM – 1 PM, $20
Get an early start on your holiday card list with one or more of these traditional designs. No particular theme to this group of three or four cards, except that you will have some fresh ideas to inspire your holiday creativity. We plan to include an easy stand-alone desk calendar (although the actual 2011 calendars may not be available.) Please note the 10 AM start time, as there is an afternoon class scheduled, and we’ll need to watch our time more closely than usual. Class will repeat on Thursday afternoon, July 22.
Make & Take with Katie

Tuesday, July 13, 6 – 8:30 PM, $20
These designs will put you in mind of palm trees, exotic flowers and cool ocean breezes. Actually, it’s the lovely paper collections by Creative Imaginations and others that will bring the islands closer to us. Class will complete three or four cards and will repeat on Wednesday afternoon, August 11.
Wedding Traditions
Wednesday, July 14, 12:30 – 3PM, $20
This is the repeat of the class originally given on June 9. It features a delightful, blushing bride from the new images by Loralie Designs, along with an elegant anniversary slide and a flourished, beaded design befitting many occasions “for a special couple.” Of course, by changing the sentiment and/or color palette, even the bride can be transformed into more of an all-occasion greeting.
Saturday, July 17, 10 AM – 1 PM, $25
When is a repeat class not a repeat class? When the materials are the same, but the designs are different. Many of you have admired the sample board in the classroom from last year featuring cards that started with brown kraft paper and black ink, but by choosing elegant images and embellishing them with pearls and jewels, produced results that were anything but pedestrian. We’ll create three or four new designs. Please note the earlier than usual start, as once again, we need to end the class on time. Class will repeat on Tuesday afternoon, July 27.
Ornament Topper MAKE & TAKE
Monday, July 19th, 1 – 3 PM, $8
The clever designers at Outlines Rubber Stamps have created a group of images especially designed to adorn otherwise ordinary glass tree ornaments. Yes, there is some fussy-cutting involved, but the results are worth it. In addition to the usual metallic embossing and glittering, the addition of gems and drop crystals on some of the designs elevate them to something quite special. Enclose one of these creations in one of the many boxes we’ve learned to make and you have the perfect small gift. The project will repeat at the end of the month in July’s “By Request Only.”

Build-an-Album Part I with Tracy
Thursday, July 22, 6PM, $18.00
Starting a scrapbook can be an overwhelming task. Don’t know where to start? The Build an Album series is the answer. For two hours, you will be provided with the materials and the instruction to complete three two-page layouts. Using the same sketch for all three layouts, you will surprise yourself with just how simple and easy it can be. Join this open-ended series of classes and let’s get started!
Saturday, July 24, 10:30 – 1 PM, $25
We’ll continue our “Christmas in July” theme with more holiday cards. Our focus will be on designs with just a touch of something different – such as a pop-up or a unique fold or the use of fabric or – well, who knows? Join us in this class (at the usual 10:30 AM time) or in the repeat class on Tuesday afternoon, August 3.
Wee One Mini Book with Tracy
Monday, July 26, 1 – 3 PM, $15
In this two hour class, you will create a mini book that you are sure to love. Using papers from the Little Yellow Bicycle line, this 4”x4” keepsake makes a great gift or a brag book for your desk or purse. When signing up for this class, please specify for a boy or a girl.

Heading to Disney and plan on collecting autographs? Have favorite Disney photos that need a home to be on display? This class is perfect for you! Assemble and complete in two hours an adorable tag book that will sure be a hit with any Disney fan in your life….including you!

Thursday, July 29, 12:30 – 3 PM, $25
We’ll incorporate the gorgeous “Capella” paper collection by BasicGrey in a group of all occasion cards. While the papers themselves appear to have been designed with weddings in mind, that theme is not at all obvious. What we do see is a luscious palette of soft colors, including some darker tones featuring florals and geometrics that lend themselves to any occasion. Class will repeat on Tuesday evening, September 7.

If you missed either of our Monday MAKE & TAKES, join us on a leisurely Saturday and take home a layered holiday die-cut card ($8) or an ornament topper ($8) or both. It’s the time of year for beach weekends and vacations and for cards incorporating the tans, warm yellows, soft greens and ocean blues that remind us it’s finally summertime. You’ll find lots of fish and other friendly sea creatures ready to greet your friends with a variety of sentiments. Class will repeat on Wednesday afternoon, August 25.
Saturday, August 7, 10 AM – 1 PM, $25
Pop-ups, pop-outs and other fancy folds will make these cards fun to make and to receive. We’ll try to please both guys and girls with a variety of designs, at least one of which could enclose a gift card, check or cash. Please note the 10AM start time. Class will repeat Tuesday evening, August 17.

Debossed Gift Frame MAKE & TAKE
Monday, August 9, 1 – 3 PM, $10
Debossing refers to making an impression (rather than creating a raised surface by working from the back.) Sending a photo to family or friends is especially popular around the holidays, but is also a nice way of saying thank you for making any get together special. We’ll create a photo frame with metallic tiles at the corners and silky ribbons wrapped in between. Perhaps you’ll decide to keep it to display a favorite photo of your own. A second opportunity to make this project will be offered in the August 28 “By Request Only” class.

Ready for some more Penny Black magic? The “Romance of Flowers” Stickeroos are perfect for summertime and early autumn, with a palette of gold, sepia, cream and touches of lavender and white. Leatherette Travel Folio
Thursday, August 19, 12:30 – 3 PM, $30
Anne has been asked to repeat this class from 2008. Construct an amazing (and useful) travel folio featuring an interior booklet with pockets, pages for notes and a simple, hand-sewn spine; more pages for notes and a ribbon-tied envelope for memorabilia. What a wonderful “bon voyage” gift for a friend – or yourself. Please note that this class is only being offered once this time around.
Smoke & Mirrors
Saturday, August 21, 10 AM – 1 PM, $25
Many of you are familiar with the technique of creating smoky images on glossy cardstock by holding the paper in the path of candle smoke, and then stamping into the sooty background. The results can be striking, as we will discover in this class. We’ll also learn to create a mirror image with almost any stamp, and perhaps add a mirrored tile or two. Please note the early start, as we need to be courteous and end the class on time. Class will repeat on Wednesday afternoon, September 8.
Simple Celebrations with Katie
Saturday, August 21, 2 – 4 PM, $20
This class will get you ready for a variety of celebrations that come your way. Learn simple tricks to make quick, yet sensational greeting cards in a jiffy. In this class you get to decide what sentiment to stamp on each card! These 5 designs feature a variety of images from A Muse Artstamps and will become a great staple for your last-minute card needs.
Fancy Flowers MAKE & TAKE
Monday, August 23, 1 – 3 PM, $8
We’ve all admired the amazing fluted, layered, glittered, bejeweled and otherwise spectacular dimensional flower stickers offered by K&Co. among others. But what if the color or size is not quite appropriate to our design? Why not try our hand at making some of our own? That way, we can be sure that the embellishment is a perfect match. The projects will be offered again at the end of the month in the “By Request” class.

Build-an-Album, Part II with Tracy
Thursday, August 26, 6 – 8 PM, $18
You ready to keep working on those scrapbooks? Even if you are just joining in, you won’t deny how simple it is to get an album off the ground. Part II of Build an Album will bring you a new sketch to play with, along with new tips and more instruction that are sure to get the creative juices flowing. You will complete three more two-page layouts to add to that album!

This is a second opportunity to create a debossed photo frame ($10) or some fancy flowers ($8) or both. See Mondays, August 9 and 23, respectively for more information on these projects. Please indicate when you sign up which project(s) you wish to make.
Class Enrollment Guidelines
Our classes are by reservation only.
Class fees must be paid in full in advance to hold your place for the class. The fee may be paid by cash or check (not Visa) as the fees are paid directly to the teacher.
People signed up for classes will receive a store coupon for 20% off on regular priced store merchandise.
If a class is cancelled by us or you cancel at least 3 days prior, we will refund your money or you can apply it toward another class, if you prefer.
No refunds given on no-shows, but your kit will be available at the store for you to pick up. Beginning March 1, 2009 kits that require significant additional work on Anne's part (for example, the stamping and embossing you would normally do in class) will incur a small surcharge (maximum $5.00 per set) payable when you pick the kits up. Please inform us if you do NOT want Anne to do this extra work.
