Altered books & Art Journals - The Library
Books for Altering:
Choose a Hard back book with STRONG BINDING AND PAGES. Many older books have sewn in pages which can make them stronger.
Test book pages by trying to tear or run a craft knife along a page, if it tears, it?s too fragile. Avoid glossy pages or pages with lots of images for your first book.
For your FIRST book, find books that are about 7-9" high and fewer pages are great to start.
If you want to work in an art Journal instead, most techniques will work just fine. Be sure they have pages of mixed media cardstock or watercolor or Bristol, something that will take a bit of water.
